The result was one that stayed true to his signature \u201ccomfort food with a contemporary twist\u201d approach, winning judges over in categories of visual presentation, texture, taste, wine compatibility, originality, and wow factor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m extremely honoured to have received this award,\u201d says Chef Paul Shufelt, \u201cIt\u2019s a humbling experience competing alongside some of the city\u2019s most talented chefs while, at the same time, supporting such a brilliant cause.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Held annually, Gold Medal Plates is the ultimate celebration of Canadian excellence in food, wine, athletic achievement, and entertainment. Proceeds from the event go to the Canadian Olympic Foundation, supporting programs that further Canadian high performance athletes\u2019 pursuit of excellence on the world stage. This year\u2019s event marked the largest Gold Medal Plates ever held, with a noteworthy group of both guests and judges in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>Chef Paul Shufelt will go on to compete at the Canadian Culinary Championships, the Gold Medal Plates Finale, in Kelowna on February 7<sup>th<\/sup> and 8<sup>th<\/sup>, 2014.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Chef Paul Shufelt<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chef Paul Shufelt is one of Alberta\u2019s leading chefs.
