Chef Paul Shufelt and Team Get Ready to Help Stamp Out Hunger this Holiday Season

Local chef partners with popular anti-poverty activist to feed residents in need

EDMONTON, AB–Chef Paul Shufelt and his team from Delux Burger Bar are doing their part to end hunger this holiday season through a partnership with local philanthropist and politician Dan Johnstone, better known as Can Man Dan, to feed Edmonton residents in need.

 

On Thursday, December 5^th, Chef Paul Shufelt along with the Delux Burger Bar team and Johnstone will take over 350 of the restaurant’s Celebrity Chef burgers for December – Johnstone’s own festive creation of a hearty Christmas dinner between two buns – to the Hope Mission in order to help those less fortunate. This initiative represents just a small portion of what Chef Paul Shufelt’s team and Johnstone are doing this December in an effort to alleviate hunger in Edmonton.

 

“Dan has made such a difference in the community and we are thrilled to be partnering with him in this initiative,” says Chef Paul Shufelt, “The issue of hunger is one that continues to hit close to home and we look forward to helping in any way we can, especially during what can be one of the most financially difficult times of the year.”

 

Since 2011, Johnstone has raised thousands of dollars and pounds of food for a number of charitable organizations such as the Edmonton Food Bank through his fundraising group, “Can Man Dan,” and other annual fundraising events. He is Delux Burger Bar’s Celebrity Chef for the month of December.

 

Delux Burger Bar will also be donating $1 from every Celebrity Chef burger sold throughout the month to the Edmonton Food Bank. In addition, Johnstone will be matching these donations with one non-perishable food item for every burger sold.
